Pressure cooker time for yucca aka cassava

If you buy the root fresh you will need to peel it and then cut it into pieces. If you buy it frozen it will already be peeled and cut, all you have to do is rinse it under cold water for a couple of seconds.

Cook the yucca aka cassava for 30 minutes in the pressure cooker. If you’re not using a pressure cooker then cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until it’s soft.

Yucca is a hard root. Because of this it takes a while for it to cook. That’s why I like to use my pressure cooker. If you have a pressure cooker I recommend using it. If you don’t then get a big sturdy pot.

I like to cook a little at a time. Make sure to not fill up your pot too much, and leave plenty of room to add water. Add enough water to cover the yucca. Add a pinch of salt to the water as well. Cook for 30 minutes in the pressure cooker. If you’re not using a pressure cooker then cook for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until it’s soft.
