PART FOUR Top 20 Eats in New York City

The Final Chapter of the Top 20 Eats in New York City

The Slaughtered Lamb Pub
182 West 4th Street
New York, NY

A very unique and creepy type pub with a whole werewolf and dungeon theme thing going on.  Hands down the only meal I can eat here after having it once is the London Fish and Chips.!!  MUST be consumed with Guinness though!!!  A non typical location in NYC – just a small hole in the wall that you can actually catch yourself never visiting unless you want to see something different.

Atomic Wings
184 1st Avenue
New York NY

Sure there are a couple other locations for this place but the only one I frequented was this particular one.  I always went for one of two flavored fingers – either Jerk BBQ or HOT!! Never had I had such an amazing flavor with either of them for buffalo style chicken.  I have tried other places – but this one had me with the first bite and no one has been able to replace them.  Not only do they have awesome chicken but their Philly Cheesesteak is equally as amazing.

The Chip Shop
383 Fifth Avenue
Brooklyn, NY

Just like they show on the Travel Channel they will fry anything you ask for.  My favorite was to bring in a typical NYC deli breakfast sandwich of eggs, bacon and cheese on a hoagie roll and ask them to fry the crap out of it.  But I wont lie the fish and chips are unbelievable.  And the absolute best sweet that I have had here is the fried Peanut Butter Cups.

Kate’s Joint
58 Avenue B
New York, NY

Excellent vegetarian food.  Many complainers aren’t thinking of the fact that they specialize in non-meat dishes.  I had breakfast here quite a few times and everytime I was overwhelmed.  Huevos Rancheros was the best!!  Atmosphere is bright and airy – service is awesome.  Can’t say I don’t look forward to my first trip here when I get home.

Delta Grill
700 9th Avenue
New York, NY

Oh – should I even go there – the Fried Green Tomatoes – YUM!  Then onto the Crawfish Etouffee – this is an absolute must if you have never had crawfish.  But if you decide on something else then at least get the red beans and rice as a side.  At the end of your meal it is an absolute MUST for you to have the Banana Fosters.  The cocktails are great and you can choose from so many house specials that you can be here for hours like I was on quite a few occasions.

Honorable Sad Mention

I was saddened to see that an old place I would go to while working on 3rd Avenue and 50th was completely gone.  It was wiped off the face of NYC and has since turned into some random crappy store.  I used Google streetview to virtually walk the same path I would to get there just to see where it was and what the name was.  Much to my chagrin it was some sort of office supply store now.  I used to go there and get my Friday lunch for $10 that gave me a huge salad, some form of pasta for the main course and a carafe of Vodka and Orange Juice.  My buddy from work and I would go back to work pleasantly buzzed for the last 3 hours of work and then proceed to walk very slowly back to Penn Station for a long ride home.
